Students enjoy Heritage's end of term Sports Day. Rain or shine Heritage holds its Sports Day on the last day of the summer term, followed by a picnic with bring and share desert. It is a great community occasion. Heritage is unique in that students from Year 2 and up have PE on four days per week. In the autumn term they will be doing hockey, swimming, netball (girls), touch rugby (boys) and cross country running. In this photo students enjoy the challenge of a three-legged race.

Expanding at Brookside
Heritage School can announce that it has just signed a new lease that will more than double its physical space from September 2012. Currently, the school uses 18-19 Brookside. From September 2012 it will use all of 17-19 Brookside. 17 Brookside is pictured here. This will give the school ample room to grow through the GCSE level, including creating dedicated science and art/D&T space, and to fulfill its vision of serving about 200 children aged 4-16.

Visit to Whipsnade Zoo
On Friday 30 September, 43 children from Heritage visited Whipsnade Zoo in Bedfordshire, as part of Heritage's Enrichment Programme. For children through Year 6, every Friday afternoon is a free slot in timetable that is given over to special activites and outings. Children from Year 2 and up can expect to go on about 15-20 educational outings each year, not including weekly nature walks. Here students in Year 7 examine a model giraffe skull and spine.

Visit to Prickwillow Drainage Museum
Students in Year 4 and in Year 5/6 enjoyed a visit to Prickwillow Drainage Engine Museum where they learned about the history of and engineering behind the drainage of the Fens. Here they are using a wind tunnel to test their wing design for a windmill/windpump. At Heritage we place a very high priority upon educational outings, which we consider important for maintaining a positive attitude to learning.
