A New Lead for Heritage Forest School

Year 4 have been thoroughly enjoying Forest School this half term and it has been super to work with the new Forest School Teacher Miss Pidgeon during the last 2 sessions. She has a wealth of teaching experience both in the indoor and outdoor classroom.  In the first week Miss Pidgeon established a new ‘whittling circle’ where the children have been developing their skills including making some creative willow wands and splendid charcoal pencils.  Another highlight has been developing fire lighting skills. During the first session the children worked in groups of four to set up their own fire place, light a fire and toast some marshmallows.  These skills were essential during the torrential rain this week when one group managed to light a fire.  We are looking forward to more exciting opportunities with Miss Pidgeon.
