Iona Sclater

DEATH OF IONA SCLATER, A YEAR 11 PUPIL (2019-20)

12th August 2019

We are extremely sad to announce the death of Iona Sclater in a tragic horse riding accident yesterday, 11th August 2019.

Iona joined Heritage School at the start of Year 7 and was about to commence Year 11. She has two younger sisters in our Senior School.

Iona was a wonderful person from a close-knit family. She was a much loved and respected member of the school community. A highly motivated pupil, she was excelling academically. She was also a very talented rider who was making an enormous contribution to British Eventing. Her capacity to balance her school and social life with the pressure of training and competing at the highest level was exceptional. She will be missed terribly.

Iona’s sudden death will have a significant effect upon pupils in our Senior School. We will be offering pastoral support to all of our pupils in the coming weeks and as term gets underway in September.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Sclater family at this unimaginably difficult time.
